This October, Gallery 4710 proudly participated in the prestigious Asia Now Paris Art Fair, presenting the works of three acclaimed Georgian artists: Tamar Nadiradze, Merab Gugunashvili, and Merab Kopaleishvili.

In partnership with Reach Art Visual, Gallery 4710 presented a striking selection of works by Merab Kopaleishvili.

Merab Kopaleishvili (b. 1967)
Born in Senaki, Georgia, Kopaleishvili demonstrated a talent for art early on, beginning to draw at just three years old. Trained at Toidze Arts School and the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, he faced the challenge of balancing his passion for art with practical work as a market vendor. Despite these obstacles, Kopaleishvili cultivated a unique style, creating compelling oil paintings and papier-mâché sculptures. His 2022 solo exhibition at the Tbilisi History Museum marked a pivotal moment, leading to his discovery of Reach Art Visual and inclusion in the Tbilisi Art Fair (TAF) in 2024. His work channels his journey, embodying an authentic approach to Georgian contemporary art.

Kopaleishvili describes his piece “Deer” as capturing an imagined dialogue with Niko Pirosmani:
“This piece captures my inner dialogue with Niko Pirosmani. I imagined the fading summer behind his calmly placed deer, with the vibrant hues of autumn overtaking the green before snow arrived. The deer’s human eye represents a reflection on the shifting flow of time.”

“Deer,” along with Kopaleishvili’s other works, was on display at the Asia Now Art Fair during Paris Art Week, October 17–20, 2024, on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées.
