From March 20 to 27, 2025, Reach Art Visual, in collaboration with Vere Gallery, presented Tamara de Lempicka: Queen of Art Deco—a rare exhibition offering the first opportunity for art lovers in Tbilisi to experience the iconic works of the renowned Polish artist.
Held at Vere Gallery, the exhibition showcased a carefully curated selection of Lempicka’s most celebrated paintings, including Self-Portrait, or Tamara in a Green Bugatti (1929) and Young Lady in Gloves (1930), which capture her distinctive style—marked by geometric precision, striking color palettes, and a timeless sense of modern glamour.
Born in Warsaw in 1894, Tamara de Lempicka emerged as a key figure in early modernism, blending elements of cubism, modernist techniques, and the elegance of Italian Mannerism. Her work, a reflection of the spirit of the Jazz Age, captured the essence of a rapidly changing world and continues to influence contemporary culture.
Lempicka was not only one of the first internationally acclaimed female artists and a major figure in the Art Deco movement, but she is also celebrated for her powerful depictions of confident, independent women—images that often mirrored her own life. Having escaped both Bolshevik Russia and Nazi Germany, Lempicka rebuilt her life several times, becoming a symbol of the “modern woman” through her art and personal story. Her portraits of strong, self-assured women, set against the backdrop of towering skyscrapers, encapsulate the transformative energy of the 1920s and 1930s.
The exhibition was made possible through the invaluable support of the Polish Institute in Tbilisi and the Polish Embassy in Georgia, with full-size prints generously licensed by the Tamara de Lempicka Estate. The launch event was attended by the members of the diplomatic corps, the Georgian art community, and a diverse audience of art enthusiasts.
