Reach Art Visual in 2024: An End Of Year Review

Online art publication Ze Gavlena that delves into the vibrant world of contemporary Georgian art and cultural dynamics, started a cycle of thematic meetings. The Ze Gavlena team invited the public to meetings transitioning from virtual to physical spaces. Contributors to the publication, professionals from various fields, discussed their ideas, visions, and initiatives with the audience every week in February, 2024.

11.02.2024 – “Georgian Contemporary Art, Aspects of Cultural Identity.”

Guest speakers included Professors of Art History and Theory, Mzia Chikhradze and Ketevan (Keti) Shavgulidze, both of whom contributed articles to Ze Galena’s 9th publication, “Boundless: Contemporary Georgian Visual Art.” Speakers discussed the challenges of defining identity in the postmodern era and the importance of cultural and national identity in artistic expression.

18.02.2024 – “Industrial Heritage Tbilisi.”

This meeting aimed to shed light on the rich industrial past of Tbilisi and its significance in the present day. The invited speakers for this event were distinguished architects Natalia Nebieridze and Tata Gachechiladze, both of whom have extensively researched and worked on projects related to industrial heritage. A special highlight of the meeting was the screening of Litagora’s film “Industrial Heritage of Tbilisi.”

25.02.2024 – “Contemporary Sculpture and Experimental Methodology.”

This meeting aimed to delve into the innovative approaches and methodologies that define contemporary sculpture today. The event featured invited speakers Dr. Tamta (Tamara) Shavgulidze, a renowned art historian, and Lia Bagrationi, a distinguished artist known for her pioneering work in the field.
Through these three thematic meetings the audience had the opportunity to engage with the speakers, ask questions, and participate in a lively debate on the future directions of contemporary art. It provided a valuable platform for artists, art historians, and the general public to come together and explore the dynamic and evolving landscape of contemporary art.

The event was organized by Ze Gavlena publisher – R.A.V. (Reach Art Visual), and was moderated by Ze Gavlena editor-in-chief, art historian, Mariam Shergelashvili
Project partner was ArtArea gallery space; supported by Peter Moennig Foundation.
